Coming up: Kalki 2898 AD Trailer Review
Namaste Friends. My name is 'Shinil Subramanian Payamal' and you are listening to the Teen Bollywood podcast.
Watched the trailer of Kalki 2898 AD which is directed by Nag Ashwin. The trailer is 3:02 minutes long, which is pretty long by normal standards.
The film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and is set in a post-apocalyptic world, in the year 2898 AD.
1. First frame reminded me of the MadMad series
2. We are told that Kashi is the first and last city in the world.
3. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama who is protecting the child in Deepika Padukone’s womb. This reminds me of the Terminator movie.
4. Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas is seen saluting Supreme Yaskin whose role has been played by Kamal Haasan.
5. Darling Prabhas looks a bit tired but body looks in shape.
The budget of the movie is said to be around Rs. 600 Crores and it looks like a 600 Crore movie. Will it be able to recover the amount is something only time will tell.
At the time of recording this podcast episode, the movie has received censor board clearance and is said to be having a running time of 3 hours and one minute.
So the plus’s of the movie:
Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama is looking in top form. Even at the age of 81, he has an amazing screen presence and his voice still carries a lot of weight.
Darling Prabhas seems to be having fun on screen.
It will be great to see Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan together on screen after almost 30 years.
Minuses:
The length of the movie which is over 3 hours can be a bit daunting if the movie turns out to be boring.
The director seems to be trying too many things in one movie.
The movie will have to do exceptional business to recover the investment of 600 Crores.
I give the trailer a rating of 4 out of 5.
